Alan Bateman was born in Swindon, UK in 1963. He worked as an engineer in the field of injection moulding for BOC and EMI compact disk manufacture.
Alan has been painting and developing his technique since 2009 after his early retirement and caring for his wife Denise who sadly passed away in 2001.
Alan has been a member of the guild of aviation artists GAvA for several years and has won the occasional prize at the guild’s annual exhibitions.
Alan strived to develop a style that encompasses a high degree of realism and he has recently been mentored by the artist Ann Hulme from the LLandogo art school.
Alan works with alkyd oil for smaller paintings and standard oil for larger pieces. In his time away from painting Alan plays trumpet, saxophone and clarinet in various bands mainly in the South west.
