Irvine Russell

Irvine Russell was born in Paisley in 1938, the son of Paisley artist John Russell. From an initial interest in art through a local art club he began to paint more seriously in oils in the mid 1960’s. In due course he graduated to watercolours, which have remained his preferred medium.

Mainly self taught, Irvine has studied at the Glasgow School of Art and claims his artistic influence from the work of his father. His subjects are landscapes and rural townscapes, depicting harbours and villages around Scotland. Irvine’s work is in a private collections in Britain and abroad.
