Martin Rumary

Martin Rumary was born in London, but at an early age moved with his parents to the Mendip Hills in the heart of the Somerset countryside.

In such an environment he developed a keen interest in the surrounding wildlife, especially birds. His favourite subjects remain the familiar birds that are visitors to most of our gardens, even if we live in town.

The love of his subjects is reflected in the paintings; intimate studies which capture those fleeting moments we see in the natural world.

Developing his technique whilst working as a draughtsman he now works full time as an artist. After working with other mediums, such as oil and gouache, he now paints exclusively in acrylics on board.

As well as London he has exhibited with various galleries and organisations such as The National Exhibition of Wildlife Art, The Wildlife Art Society and The Marwell International Wildlife Art Society among others. He has been invited to be artist in residence at the prestigeous Nature in Art Museum at Twigworth in Gloucestershire and outside the UK his work has spread as far afield as the USA, Australia and Hong Kong.
