Laurence Udall

A renowned British artist, best known for his depictions of the English countryside. Born 11th June 1943, at Baslow, NW. Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England.

Laurence lived at Edensor for 35 years on the Chatsworth Estate, seats of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. He worked at Chatsworth House carrying out restorations, etc. as well as painting scenes of the countryside and farms of the Estate, near Bakewell, Derbyshire in the Peak District.

He has painted commissions for the 11th Duke and Duchess of Derbyshire, as well as the Dowager Duchess, who has his work in their collections. He also painted for the renowned British ex Poet Laureat Sir John Betjeman who greatly admired this artists work. Sir John wrote a poem about Laurence’s work, which his daughters published in her book about her father after his death.
