A professional landscape painter working in acrylics on canvas.
Paul began his artistic career as an illustrator working on all kinds of commissions- but gradually realised that landscape painting was what he most enjoyed and had most empathy for.
Enough of an illustrator to want his landscapes to have that touch of narrative about them Paul often gives the viewer a path to walk along, or a stream to follow as they take in the scene.
Paul is an unashamedly traditional landscape painter, it is capturing the fleeting magic of the reality is his greatest challenge, inviting others to speculate on the business of what it all means!
Paul trained as a Graphic Designer and spent many years working freelance in the publishing industry mostly creating artwork for book covers and posters. During this time he was slowly developing his interest in landscape painting and in 2007 began to devote himself full time to landscape art, selling mostly to local galleries. His work has been described as ‘traditional with a touch of impressionism. Paul strives to blend the virtues of the traditional form with the insights of the impressionist school so as to produce art that is both decorative, yet remains alive and in the moment.
